I do - don't like being hot!!

Here's Fred enjoying the beautiful Sunshine..... he is a Hawks supporter today.

He has been a Socceroo's supporter (fat lot of good it did them!!), and hopefully this weekend

he will be a Melbourne Victory Supporter!

One of our new additions.... an Art Nouveau Framed 1910 photo taken in Hobart.

This is our front window with a lovely selection of 50's Judge Ware Enamel Pots etc.

Note the lovely Oak Apothecary Box, and the Elm and Beech Cottage Chairs (c 1830)

This Grand Secretaire has some fantastic Tasmanian Provenance.

It was originally owned by Francis Cotton who was an original settler, on the East Coast, of a property called Kelvedon.

The Cotton family were Quakers and had a lot to do with the local Aborigines.

The 1860's secretaire is made from Rimu, Kauri, Huon and Rosewood timbers and is in lovely condition.

The Carving Chair has some great history attached - it was owned by a one legged blacksmith.

He had been working on a farm, droving on horse back, when something spooked the horse and it ended up falling on him crushing his leg.

He wasn't found for days and when he was, it was too late to save his leg. 

His grandson remembers sitting on his knee in this chair. 

The Chair has some great repairs in iron completed by the blacksmith and showing his skill of his craft.

A skillfully carved horn, now a peacock reflected in a lovely Art Deco mirror.

New Additions....... we are in our 8th Month!

We have the privilege of having a complete, 1950's No 10, Meccano set for sale for a limited time.

This set is for the collector or enthusiast and has been fanatically set out and displayed.

The car is not a part of the set but to show , those who don't know what Meccano is, what the children of the 50's used to play with.

A fan shaped Art Deco Mirror.

This Jug, Basin and Chamber Pot is an immaculate J & G Meakin "Emerald" set.

It would look lovely on a washstand or dressing table.

This is the only Fox in Tasmania! And he is stuffed!

He really is nice and soft and has been quickly snapped up already.

The Brass & Copper Hunting Horn is still available and would look great in the pool room or den. 

The photo just doesn't do this Knife & Fork Set justice.

With a setting for 12 this EPNS set would look great in a kitchenalia display.

It has a Mahogany case especially made for it and if it were mine I wouldn't be parting with it!

This is an early Oak Apothecary Box with glass front, lift up lid and seperate drawer.

It is in fantastic condition and again the photo does not do it justice.

On top of the box we have a Kodak Folding six-20 and a Polaroid Land Camera 80A. Both are in fantastic condition and good representatives of their era.

Its that time of year again - Targa time!!

One of the many benefits of having the shop where we do is that we get to see it all: Accidents, Police Cars, Ambulances, Hogs, and now all the Targa Cars.

This week we have had a BMW motorcycle go over going around the corner, a green hyundai ran a red light and ploughed into an Examiner car and lots and lots of Targa Cars.

Now for the new pieces in the shop.....

here is a beautiful Jacobean Hall Table with Drawer..... the handles are carved wolves heads.

This is one of my favourite pieces and I would love to find a spot for it at my place!

An original signed oil in a lovely gilt and creme frame.

Items of Interest......

Its's been a while, I know, but things have been busy in the shop and at home and there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to do it all!!

George 3rd left the shop recently and he was the MOST magnificent beast we have ever had in. He was huge and gorgeous and had eyes that followed you (which was quite spooky) - it got to the stage where I had to say hello to him every morning just to make sure he wouldn't spook me throughout the day!

Here is one of our recent purchases ..... a nice simple Art Deco half round hall table.

The hen's head moves and pecks at the seeds all day!

This retro 50's/60's Wind Up Alarm Clock is a recent addition to the shop. 

A Wembley Flying Duck's Vase with a Vivid Green and Amber Glaze.

Very different and unique.

World War 1 Military Tank Headset of Australian origin.

This is one of our newest phone additions..... It is an ATM phone complete with identification plate with the date of use 1932.

It was made for use in the mines and to make a call you had to wind it up to get the exchange's attention. No number dials were used in those days!!

This Siemens House phone with Teledex is also from the 1930's and completely original.

How Retro and Bright is this?? Nothing like a Yellow Adler Tippa Typewriter to brighten up your desk.

In working order and ribbons are still available on Ebay.

These are a pair of Cast Iron Angel Lights or Sconces.

They are quite a size and would have held a lamp in the bowl section.

They are quite ornate and have the cherub playing a trumpet on the arm.

This 60's Japanese decorative plate with the scene of Mt Fuji is quite stunning and would brighten up any room.

The bushes and landscape seem to have been sown and could be a bunka punch creation.

Ever seen a highchair like this one?

It is rather unique with its rear cupboard.

Lovely finish to the timber - could be used for your doll or teddy bear collection.

This cabinet has our beautiful jewellery on display..... Some 9ct Gold...... Sterling Silver and Marcasite and a lovely selection of costume jewellery including clip on earrings.

Who forgets their Wedding Anniversary???? We do!!

Well thats what happens when you work 7 days and your husband is the president of the local soccer club and the seasons about to start!

So as I wrote out an invoice yesterday I looked at the date..... and wondered why it seemed so familiar..... and then it hit me..... we have been married 11 years.

Amazing..... how time flys when you are having fun.... ha ha!

Amazing..... how you still love the man as much and more than you did 11 years ago.

Amazing..... how he is still gorgeous (even for the extra pounds) and can still make me swoon.

Ain't love grand?

Religious Splendour....

We were blessed (good pun) to take in this Ivory covered Prayer Book.... no sooner had it hit my desk - it was sold!



It has its own Velvet covered case to keep it safe.



There is a Gold engraved medallion on the front, and in the back of the book there was an inscription to the lady who it was given to, from her husband on their wedding day!

What a lovely present.

Tasmanian Dance Card Holder Anyone??

Ok so now I am teasing you .... just a tad!
This beautiful piece of Tasmaniana/Australiana is not for sale!



It is one of the most amazing pieces I have seen. Imagine going to the local dance with your dance card and pen sitting in this holder and wearing it on your wrist like a beautiful piece of jewellery.



It is Sterling Silver and made by one of the oldest known Jewellers in Hobart - W Golding. The detail is fantastic showing the two city's and the Southern Cross is mapped out with the Turquoise stones.



I was lucky enough for one of my clients to bring this piece into my shop and let me take photo's of it to show you all. He was just teasing me with it .... but what a nice tease!
