Daryl Braithwaite....... Australian Music Icon

When Mackenzie has a birthday so do I soon after.....

he was due on my birthday so it was nice when he arrived

 on a different date!

My treat this year was to go see Daryl Braithwaite

live at the Boathouse here in Launceston.

Here I am with a friend of ours Lisa (who knows Daryl from way back when)

and Daryl.

Daryl still has it!

He sang his favourite songs including some Sherbet.... "Howzat"

And to finish he sung "We'll go riding on the Horses" - during

which a guy asked his girlfriend to marry him.... so it was all very special!

The Venue was great, the company even better

and Daryl very sexy for a 60yr old!!

My baby is 11......

Bad Shirley has worked his magic again!

Mackenzie turned 11 on Friday and the request was put in for a soccer

themed cake and this was the result.

In addition to the football field he made 2 dozen soccer ball cupcakes

 and 1 dozen adults only cupcakes which were devine!

Happy to pass on his details should you need his talents!

Chocolate with homemade jam in the middle and lovely coconut icing.

The weather was kind to us and the 17 kids had a great time with a visit to the

exercise section of Royal Park and a soccer game - of course!

This is the party area - it was all clean and tidy - but that only

lasted 2 minutes and then they had a popcorn fight! 

For once we had 2 girls at the party.

Summer and Chelsea, who most of the boys have played with or against in soccer

or at Loft which is run by their father Garry.

I was politely told to move away from Mackenzie (by one of the other boys)

while he was preparing to cut the cake.

And of course when he cut the cake and touched the bottom

the boys all shouted that he had to kiss the closest girl!

Its really funny to watch Mackenzie get all embarrassed and interesting

to see the dynamics of the group now that they had female company.

Mackenzie had a great day and was thoroughly exhausted (as were his parents) by the end of it.

Needless to say he is already planning next years!

It's Snowing in them thar hills!!!

We have had a bit of a cold snap in beautiful Tasmania and one of my lovely friends

 lives near Cradle Mountain and has allowed me to use her photo's for the blog!

Last night Madison Sarah had her school social

Madison's hair was gorgeous and really suited her..... bit Lily Allen..... bit glamorous rock chick.

August already.......

So much is happening this month.

Soccer season ends, and with Madison and Mackenzie

 both playing, it makes for exciting Saturday's.

Madison has her school social this week, so I hope to have

some glamour shots on my blog soon.

Mackenzie will turn 11 later in the month

and is planning a big birthday party (so I have to plan a big birthday party).

I am going to call on Bad Shirley to make the cake again and he can work his magic.

I think a soccer field will be the feature this year with soccer ball cup cakes....

Don't you just love Winter??

I do - don't like being hot!!

Here's Fred enjoying the beautiful Sunshine..... he is a Hawks supporter today.

He has been a Socceroo's supporter (fat lot of good it did them!!), and hopefully this weekend

he will be a Melbourne Victory Supporter!

One of our new additions.... an Art Nouveau Framed 1910 photo taken in Hobart.

This is our front window with a lovely selection of 50's Judge Ware Enamel Pots etc.

Note the lovely Oak Apothecary Box, and the Elm and Beech Cottage Chairs (c 1830)

This Grand Secretaire has some fantastic Tasmanian Provenance.

It was originally owned by Francis Cotton who was an original settler, on the East Coast, of a property called Kelvedon.

The Cotton family were Quakers and had a lot to do with the local Aborigines.

The 1860's secretaire is made from Rimu, Kauri, Huon and Rosewood timbers and is in lovely condition.

The Carving Chair has some great history attached - it was owned by a one legged blacksmith.

He had been working on a farm, droving on horse back, when something spooked the horse and it ended up falling on him crushing his leg.

He wasn't found for days and when he was, it was too late to save his leg. 

His grandson remembers sitting on his knee in this chair. 

The Chair has some great repairs in iron completed by the blacksmith and showing his skill of his craft. 

Another window..... with one of my favourite Snow Leopard Chairs..... one of a set of 6!

A skillfully carved horn, now a peacock reflected in a lovely Art Deco mirror.

And another window...... love that shop!!

New Additions....... we are in our 8th Month!

We have the privilege of having a complete, 1950's No 10, Meccano set for sale for a limited time.

This set is for the collector or enthusiast and has been fanatically set out and displayed.

The car is not a part of the set but to show , those who don't know what Meccano is, what the children of the 50's used to play with.

A fan shaped Art Deco Mirror.

This Jug, Basin and Chamber Pot is an immaculate J & G Meakin "Emerald" set.

It would look lovely on a washstand or dressing table.

This is the only Fox in Tasmania! And he is stuffed!

He really is nice and soft and has been quickly snapped up already.

The Brass & Copper Hunting Horn is still available and would look great in the pool room or den. 

The photo just doesn't do this Knife & Fork Set justice.

With a setting for 12 this EPNS set would look great in a kitchenalia display.

It has a Mahogany case especially made for it and if it were mine I wouldn't be parting with it!

This is an early Oak Apothecary Box with glass front, lift up lid and seperate drawer.

It is in fantastic condition and again the photo does not do it justice.

On top of the box we have a Kodak Folding six-20 and a Polaroid Land Camera 80A. Both are in fantastic condition and good representatives of their era.

This is a Retro Children's chair in fantastic original condition.
